Miner's Family. Navy Seabee. Your Neighbor.

The story behind the mission.

A Mining Town Kid

"I wanted to be the fourth generation. My dad and grandpa had other plans."

Mullan, Idaho, is the kind of small town where everybody knows your dad, your grandpa, and probably what you did last Friday night. I grew up there, class of '93, with the Lucky Friday headframe on the skyline and the mountains all around.

My great-uncle helped start the Lucky Friday mine, and the men in my family made their living underground for three generations. Mining was all I knew, and I wanted to be the fourth generation. But my dad and grandpa knew what that life took out of a man, and they pushed me toward something different.

We Build. We Fight.

I wasn't going to play college football, and I didn't have the patience to sit in a classroom. So I joined the Navy and served as a Construction Electrician with the Seabees.

The Seabees' motto is "We Build, We Fight," and it stuck with me. The Navy taught me discipline. You finish the job. You do it right the first time. You tell the truth, even when it's hard. And you never leave your people behind.

The Call That Brought Me Home

"In the Navy, I served my country. Now I serve my neighbors."

After the Navy, I worked as a journeyman pipefitter, traveling wherever the work was. I was on a job in Wyoming when my wife called to tell me our house was on fire. I was hundreds of miles away and couldn't do a thing to help her.

That was the day I decided I was done being gone. I came home to my wife, my family and friends, and the mountains I grew up in. I became a realtor 11 years ago, and I've been serving families here ever since.

Why I Do It This Way

"The client is the mission. I stick with the mission no matter what."

Buying or selling a home is one of the biggest things you'll ever do. I don't take that lightly. I bring the same values to real estate that I lived by in the Navy.

I Know What's Behind the Walls

The interior of a finished home: a wood-lined vaulted ceiling, tall windows onto the trees, and a black wood stove

Between wiring buildings in the Navy, fitting pipe, and now building homes in the Silver Valley, I've spent my whole life around construction. When we walk a house together, I'll tell you what's solid, what's a shortcut, and what's going to cost you down the road.

Out in the Mountains

I bow hunted elk for years, until my knees voted for a rifle. These days it's Jeep trails with my wife, a round of golf, some dirt biking, and any excuse to be in the woods. I'm a mountain guy through and through.

Every spring, Jared, his wife Shadra, and their daughters Paris and Sienna load the dirt bikes and the camper and head for the mountains. Coeur d'Alene Magazine told their story in "Throttle Therapy," its feature on riding North Idaho's mountain trails.

"I rode my dirt bike to school and football practice and camped all over the place."
